I got the serenum.sys from one of the temporary folders created by the installation process.(3a) So, I think that windows installs this sys file if it recognizes the motherboard has at least one parallel or serial port.(4) So good luck when installing your serial device to your POS solution. I will open another thread if I have problems with the buffer size of the device.Humberto Sequeira
Prolific Usb To Serial Driver Windows Xp Sp3
Anyways, the POSReady does not install these system files if the installation does not detect a serial or parallel port (which make sense, as why would it install drivers for a device that is not detected). I posted this for others to be aware of this when they select the hardware that will be offered to their customers, as good old "on mother-board" serial and parallel ports cannot be beaten by their USB imitations (IRQ and memory addressing processing are needed for end devices to function properly).
Just go into control panel, add hardware, and tell it that it has a com port. After it installs drivers obviously it does not determine the settings and asks you to set resources manually. I didn't bother and simply closed that and plugged my serial adapter back in and it now works.
I picked up an Arduino clone made by BETEMCU, and I am having some mixed results. It uses a Prolific PL-2303HX USB chip. I downloaded the most recent PL-2303HX drivers (1.8.0) from prolific.com.tw. If I install on my machine at work, or my laptop at home (both running Windows 7 64-bit...one is Home edition and the other is Enterprise), the driver installs fine, and it recognizes the "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port" when the board is plugged in. When I run the Arduino IDE and try to upload any sketch, it gives me the "not in sync" error. I have also tried the 1.0.3 version drivers, with the same results. Full output using "verbose" is below.
Hello,I got a Betemcu arduino uno board a while ago. I tried to install it on my windows 7 computer but it did not recognize the arduino board. It sees it as a usb 2.0 serial connection in the device manager. When i try to refresh or update the driver it gives a code 28 and tells me the driver doesn't exist.. I tried looking for the drivers online but there is no support page on the sites of betemcu..Anyone who can help me out with this? Thanks
Both versions need the prolific serial drivers to be loaded, for windows this is the same driver loaded by EasyC or available from the RobotC download page. If you have either of these installed then there is no no need to load anything else. For OSX, the driver is available from the prolific web site.
The joystick should be connected to the PC/Mac using the orange serial cable, this code does not work with a direct connection using the USB cable to the cortex, in many ways it does not make sense for competition code to be running that way anyway. Select the prolific com port from the pulldown menu. The PC version will not run if either RobotC or EasyC is running as that will be using the serial port.
Rick and the team that brought us WINMOR built in a nice feature that allows the WINMOR TNC to program the radio frequency and mode for the selected RMS station. Selecting a station in the frequency list tunes the radio to the proper frequency and sets the USB mode. The radios supported included are Icom, Kenwood, Yeasu, and others. My radios are Icoms so this note is about that brand. You are on your own for the others but the approach should be similar.Icom CAT is called CI-V and is an bidirectional single-wire serial asynchronus mode using TTL levels . The Icom interface is called a CT17 and requires a serial port and costs $150. A USB dongle is available that does the job. I got mine on Ebay from kawamall_cool (!) for less than $9 incl shipping. Here is a pix of the dongle and driver miniCD. Note "mono" 3.5mm plugThe dongle is based on the Prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge chip. I have Windows XPSP3 and it worked fine. Use _Prolific_GPS_1013_20090319.zip driver for Windows 7. It took some doing to get it to work with W7.There is a lot of good in RMS Express > Help...Radio Control . Here are my notes and step-by-step: Use the supplied CD to install the driverAfter successful installation check device manager (Start...Run...Open:devmgmt.msc) to see something like this:Note the com port number assigned to the Prolific USB-to-Serial Bridge. If this conflicts with other com ports you use click on it and go to Port Settings...Advanced...Com Port Number and change it.Go to your radio's menu and get its CI-V address and baud rate. My 706 was set for 58H and 9600 baud.Run RMS Express, Open Session WL2K,...Setup,...Radio Setup.... Fill in data for your radio. For the Serial port put in the number you got from the Device Mgr. PTT will be EXTERNAL if you are using a SLUSB. I'm not sure if RTS and DTR are needed here but leaving them checked doesn't seem to hurt anything. The panel will look like below for a IC706. Hit Update and you're done. Plug the 3.5mm plug into the CI-V port of the radio. Select or 2xclick a station and frequency on the HF Channel Selector screen and the radio will tune to it and set USB.[Note- Don't forget the $39 to ARSF to register the software]Other uses of this CI-V dongleAIRMAIL- (A program to implement WINLINK over HF)- Here are notes to use the dongle to control an Icom radio with this. 2ff7e9595c
